Yonsei University College of Engineering held the second performance briefing session on community problem-solving education
Yonsei University College of Engineering has operated ‘Solving Community Problems in Seobuk 3-gu’ program, which encourages a group of students, professors, and experts to discover, diagnose, and seek solutions to various local problems engaging with residents and stakeholders (SDG 11.3) in the 3 northwestern districts in Seoul (Eunpyeong-gu, Mapo-gu, Seodaemun-gu). The session was held to present the excellence of the outcome and share its solutions and application with the community. A total of 37 student teams submitted results in four comparative classes (Smart Mobility, Creative problem solving for the community. Architectural design, and Resource circulation engineering), of which a total of 10 teams with excellent results were selected as award teams, and 5 teams presented as representatives. Students suggested various and creative solutions in each course, some of which were ‘how-to-use buses to respond to the demand of commuting office workers and the transportation vulnerable’, ‘making tents for the underprivileged elderly’, and ‘resolving unauthorized dumping of garbage in Seodaemun-gu’. With the program and expanding its activities and research, Yonsei University College of Engineering will create a collaborative model between universities and communities.
