On Thursday, October 31, 2024, the German-Korean Youth Network Academic Delegation visited the Yonsei University Institute for Global Engagement and Empowerment.
Comprising eight German youths interested in Korea and sustainable development, the delegation attended a special lecture by Director Shinki Ahn titled "The Role of Universities in Improving the Resilience of Global Communities Toward a Sustainable Planet." During the visit, participants engaged in discussions about the role of universities and strategies for promoting global sustainability. In particular, they exchanged in-depth perspectives on the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda, the impact of COVID-19, poverty eradication, and the current status of sustainable development in both Europe and Korea.
This visit is expected to deepen the German youth’s understanding of Korea’s and Yonsei University’s research and practices related to sustainable development.
The “German-Korean Youth Network (Netzwerk Junge Generation Deutschland-Korea)” is an affiliate organization of the “Korea-Germany Forum” and was established in Germany in 2019. The network aims to enhance mutual understanding and cooperation between young people in Korea and Germany through communication and exchange. This academic delegation is visiting Korea from October 27 to November 3, 2024, under the theme “Generation Sustainability: Exploring South Korea.”
