To support a wide range of research activities that contribute to achieving the SDGs, the Social Engagement Fund (SEF) program was launched in July of 2018. Students and researchers around the world were called to submit research and project proposals that emphasized implementing and evaluating the impact of the SDGs, which can also result in tangible outputs on top of knowledge alone. The entries were screened by a number of expert panels.
SEF (Social Engagement Fund) 2024 Final Presentation Event Held
The Institute for Global Engagement and Empowerment (IGEE) is an organization that plans and implements various social engagement programs to contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We strive to solve issues arising in different sectors of society and seek practical solutions for a better future. Through initiatives like the SEF (Social Engagement Fund), we continue to create positive change in communities around the world. The SEF program, in which students actively participate, supports their awareness of global social issues and helps transform their ideas for solutions into real, impactful change in our society.
SEF 2024 Project Teams
For the 2024 SEF program, a total of 25 teams applied. After a rigorous evaluation process conducted by faculty members with administrative positions at IGEE, 9 projects were selected for support—5 domestic and 4 international teams. Each team carried out diverse activities focused on sustainable development within their respective communities. The domestic teams addressed social gaps and environmental challenges through innovative projects targeting children with autism, the elderly, high school students in Jeju, care workers, and single mothers. The international teams tackled global issues such as disability-inclusive environmental research, smart cities, the establishment of sustainable villages, and the expansion of renewable energy access.
Selection of Outstanding Teams & Participation in GEEF 2025
All nine SEF 2024 teams shared the outcomes of their work during the final presentation event held on February 4, 2025, where they also received feedback and evaluations from IGEE’s faculty. As a result, three teams were selected as outstanding teams. These teams have been given the special opportunity to present their projects at the Global Engagement & Empowerment Forum (GEEF) 2025. GEEF serves as a platform for solidarity and collaboration toward global sustainable development. The outstanding teams will be able to showcase the value and impact of their projects on a global stage, engage with international leaders, and attract greater support and attention.
The SEF (Social Engagement Fund) program is held annually and welcomes the participation of all individuals interested in contributing to global social engagement. Thank you.
